Korean Music Awards giới thiệu là giải thưởng không dựa trên doanh thu mà dựa trên giá trị nghệ thuật. Hội đồng thẩm định gồm 56 giám khảo là các nhà báo, nhà phê bình âm nhạc, nhà sản xuất show âm nhạc, radio, học giả và chuyên gia trong ngành.
